Rome's Birthday
Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology
Penn Museum celebrates Rome's birthday (April 21, 753 BC) by inviting guests through time to explore Italy during the ancient Roman Empire. Visitors can enjoy gladiatorial bouts, try on helmets and shields, and reenact battle formations, as well as enjoy music, food, and arts and crafts. Enthusiasts can also visit the Museum's Etruscan Italy, Greece, and Rome Galleries, and learn more about the history of Mediterranean civilizations by viewing more than 1,000 artifacts including marble and bronze sculptures, jewelry, gold and silver coins, metalwork, glass vessels, and more.
